I have long adored vintage advertisements. Ads feel like the truest window we have into a different time. They ask: "What is the BEST way to communicate to the public, right now?"
In these high-budget magazine and TV ads, "simple" choices of color, font, and content each have millions of dollars on the line.
So, in one of my many late-night vintage ad deep dives, I found a Japanese commercial that stars the young pop star Janet Jackson as a happy businesswoman calling someone from her brand new cell phone. She's so magnetic (and speaks pretty good Japanese!), that I felt called to capture some of that infectious energy in a Hero piece.
Clearly, in our painting, Hero is getting some very good news. He is recieving a full-throated "YES!" through the phone line.
It's an abundant and optimistic energy that I hope brings plenty of YES into your life once you hang this special painting. :)
