A note from the artist:

When I paint, I often imagine Hero as the main character in a private video game.

I play scenes of this imaginary video game in my head. This is one of those scenes.

Sometimes in playing a video game, we “lose a life” or get a “game over”.

The same is true in life, I’ve found. Setbacks can be surprising, unpredictable and so disappointing.

How lucky we are, then, for the eternal restart.
